DESCRIPTION:
The Archaic temenos was the first religious monument founded on the site, enclosed by a stone boundary wall. In its interior, a large round altar was discovered, built of unworked stones and clay. Around these constructions the area was filled with ashy debris and sacrificial animal bones, especially of sheep and goats.
In direct connection to the temenos a great number of clay figurines were brought to light, representing either male figures holding offerings or playing music, or figurine complexes of horse and riders, or animals like bulls, deer etc. Two gold and silver votive figurines were also found there.
