DESCRIPTION:
Along the paved street that connected the two main Gates of the sanctuary, are the remains of a long portico in the Doric order.
The South Building is located behind the portico. It consisted of five rooms that were accessible through the portico and were separated from each other by corridors. Each room had raised platforms on three of its sides, divided from the central paved area by Doric colonnades.
The South Building, due to its shape and interior layout was considered by the excavators to have served as a guest house for the visitors-pilgrims.
The inscription, set in the facade over one of the doors, indicates that two of the rooms were constructed during the reign of the emperor Trajan in AD 101.
