7. A WALL-PAINTING
LOCATION: ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF KALAVASOS-TENTA
CHRONOLOGY: 7500-5500 BC
QR: qr-121
DESCRIPTION:

Structure 11, immediately below the walkway, is of special importance since it is the only building at Tenta to have been decorated with a wall-painting. A scene, probably representing two human figures side by side with their arms upraised, was painted in red ochre on the east face of the single pier. The significance of the painting, whether religious or more mundane, is unknown, but it has to be said that, apart from the painting, the building has no other distinguishing features.
